Leidos Communications Assistant in Washington, District Of Columbia
Bachelor’s Degree plus direct relevant work experience performing communications and coordination activities (can include experience gained while pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree). Excellent proofreading, copyediting and oral/written communications skills required.
Leidos is looking for a Communications Assistant to join our NCJRS Communications program in support of the U.S. Department of Justice. The position will support the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) in Washington, DC.
NIJ requires one full-time onsite Communications Assistant to copyedit and proofread a range of materials; coordinate and assemble materials for listings, summaries, and printing requisitions; track projects in Excel; assemble and format data in response to calls for information; and provide other communications support tasks, as needed. Assists in creating new written materials where appropriate. Determines activities to strengthen internal communication capabilities.
Provides administrative support and coordination with the communications department to assist with the dissemination of NIJ-related information. Assists in the determination of relevant conferences and events to participate in, and selects materials to disseminate at events. Assists staff with scheduling conference lines and meeting spaces.
Coordinates the review, approval, scheduling, and release of publications, webpages, and other related materials. Ensures all staff are aware of impending releases and that materials are released at their designated time. Works with federal staff and contractors to coordinate overall communications activities.
Provides publication and multimedia production coordination and support where requested by NIJ. This support may include the original development/writing, and refreshing or enhancing of electronic content for web, social media, and other communication channels. Content ranges from basic descriptive material for agency programs and activities to editing technical materials, such as science and data-driven content involving complex graphics and statistical material. Updates webpages and creates web-based apps and tools for internal use through the SharePoint platform.
