Kaiser Permanente Member Assistant Clerk- Pharmacy in Wailuku, Hawaii

Under direct supervision, performs patient registration and greeting services for external and internal customers; collaborates with team members, clinic staff and other departments on issues requiring shared accountability and/or decision making.

Essential Functions: - Acknowledges members by name when known in pharmacy or Over-the-Counter (OTC) area(s); exhibits good contact skills; greets members cordially; establishes eye contact; uses positive and helpful facial expression; exhibits positive and helpful behavior toward members and co-workers alike; notifies staff of special circumstances as needed; directs members to appropriate areas of patient care after ascertaining needs; listens to and acknowledges members physical and emotional needs; maintains calm and pleasant tone of voice; answers questions and establishes understanding. - Expedites members' pharmacy experience; provides information regarding prescription filling options, OTC self care options, and services that meet members needs. - Helps to maintain safety, security, cleanliness and orderliness of counters, equipment, OTC shelves, and immediate work area. - Refers questions regarding prescription or OTC medication content, instructions or side effects to pharmacist as appropriate. - Maintains basic working knowledge of current health plan/non-plan policies and coverages applying to prescription services and OTC medications; keeps abreast of relevant changes. - Adapts to varying work volume demands to minimize member wait times for pharmacy services; produces acceptable amount of work in reasonable period of time that is accurate, complete and timely. - Participates in developing and implementing plans/projects to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness; monitors and reports status and progress to supervisor. - Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide care and/or service appropriate to age groups served. - Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide culturally sensitive care and/or service. - Performs other duties and accepts responsibility as assigned.

Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Experience - Six (6) months customer service experience. Education - High school diploma; or equivalent combination of education (lesser)&experience may be considered in lieu of requirements. License, Certification, Registration - N/A.

Additional Requirements: - Demonstrated skill in PC navigation. - Demonstrated ability to communicate instructions and manage people flow. - Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in conflict resolution, customer service, influence, organization, interpersonal relations, oral communication, problem solving, results orientation, systems thinking, and teamwork. - Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in word processing and database PC applications. - Talking to co-workers, customers, outside vendors, and on the telephone. - Reading, writing, speaking and understanding English. - Training/giving and receiving instructions. - Mathematical ability, attention to detail (e.g. organization, prioritization, proofing), concentration and alertness.
