Combined Insurance Vice President, Expense Management in United States

Relationship and Scope The Vice President, Expense Management, will report directly to the Senior Vice President, Expense Management, and manage a team of five professionals. The VP will oversee the department’s workflow to ensure proper management of staff deliverables and provide client support services to Accounting, Financial Reporting, and other functional areas within the Finance Shared Service Center. This leadership position plays a pivotal role in leading collaborative efforts on work transition, integration, and future-state design as a result of the ACE/Chubb acquisition. In addition, this role will provide expense management support for Chubb’s North America segment and will have matrix reporting into the Segment CFO. This role will be based in Chubb’s Whitehouse Station, NJ, location. Responsibilities Responsible for overall expense management including planning, forecasting, analysis, allocation processes, intercompany processes, and ensuring controls in place for closing the monthly expense ledgers primarily in support of Chubb Corporate and North America. * Support corporate reporting initiatives by directing staff efforts to deliver timely and accurate analysis for forecasted and actual results. * Be accountable for reporting and analysis of key financial metrics for the organization that drive operational performance under pre-established milestones * Partner with North America CFO and management reporting team to assess business initiatives to ensure appropriate return on investments * Expense Analysis - help direct the staff to develop timely accurate and meaningful commentary on expense variances. Provide management with a clear understanding of drivers and trends impacting results on a managed, GAAP and statutory basis. Leverage the team’s information and knowledge to develop reasonable forecasted results. * Expense Close - oversee the timely period-end close for expenses, ensuring processes are completed, journals and allocations are posted timely and accurately, and management and corporate deliverables are achieved. * Expense Allocations – direct the monthly expense allocation process and interface to the G/L, ensuring processes run as expected and produce reasonable results, including expense trend analysis and balancing of allocations. Oversee the collaboration of a unified allocation methodology and structure from legacy environments. * Advise senior management on the emergence and progress of issues. * Communicate at a level that allows for clear identification of the issues, alternatives considered and rationale for conclusions. * Other duties and responsibilities – as defined. Technical: * Bachelor’s degree in Business with a major in Accounting or Finance * CPA designation preferred * Strong communication and interpersonal skills * Excellent computer skills with an ability to learn accounting and insurance policy software * Ability to multi-task and prioritize deadlines * Strong organizational skills and proven ability to work independently * Microsoft Word and Excel experience required * Proficiency with TM1 an asset * Proven problem solving skills * Team player with customer service orientation * Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment * Professional attitude, appearance and demeanor * Strong time management and organizational skills * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Proven leadership experience in an academic or business setting * Enthusiastic self-starter * Demonstrates integrity and dedication For additional information about Chubb or its services, please visit our website.
