Overview:

Are you a strong communicator with a proven background in providing excellent customer serivce while difusing difficult or potentially dangerous situations? Our HealthEast Security Team exempifies our goal to provide quality safety and security of patients, visitors and our staff.

Our security team has an outstanding reputation for meeting the needs of hospital patients, visitors and staff, offering assistance and providing excellent customer service. They proactivley work to prevent theft and vandalism and may occasionaly be involved in high risk or potentially dangerous situations which require a range of safety precautions.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations and policies, procedures and standards

  • Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements to achieve clinical, satisfaction and/or efficiency outcomes

  • Patrols designated areas according to established procedures and documents patrols in daily shift reports

  • Documents daily activities in report writing system

  • Provides assistance to patients, visitors and staff

  • Responds to calls for services

  • Assists in the control (often physical) of potentially violent individuals which requires strength, stamina, flexibility and critical thinking

  • Works with potentially unpredictable individuals requiring that teamwork and communication with other security officers

Qualifications:

  • 1 to 2 years experience required depending on education

  • High school diploma and 2 years security experience or Associate Degree and 1 year security experience

  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field

  • Class D Drivers License.

  • Basic computer knowledge required.

  • Must be able to pass MN BCA, FBI and HHS background check.

  • Must pass HealthEast background check.

  • Must be able to pass FTO, CPR and Use of Force Training.

  • Ability to use a computer and applications that are associated with performing basic work tasks (use a mouse, navigate in Windows, Outlook, etc).

  • Uses appropriate interpersonal skills and techniques to gain acceptance for ideas or solutions.

  • Uses influencing strategies to gain genuine agreements; seeks to persuade rather than force solutions or impose decisions or regulations.

  • Ability to identify, assess, understand, and cope with a serious situation, especially from the moment it first occurs to the point that recovery procedures start.

  • Gathers and integrates critical information, recognizing and addressing underlying assumptions of others, to arrive at effective solutions; breaks down problems into simple tasks or activities; analyzes relationships among several parts of a situation.

  • Knowledge and skills related to providing first aide procedures and medical techniques, and acting efficiently to locate resources and key people under stable and emergency conditions.

  • Represents positions on issues to gain support and buy in from others; generates multiple alternatives to a problem to meet the needs of other stakeholders; can be both direct and forceful as well as diplomatic; gains trust quickly.

  • Demonstrates practices that support safety with recognition of variations in populations served, preventing harm to patients, families, employees, and themselves.

  • Utilizing policies, procedures, and practices to minimize or eliminate unacceptable risk; application of qualitative or quantitative techniques to reduce uncertainty of outcomes, liabilities, or losses.

  • Knowledge and application of safety practices, fire and disaster policies and procedures; safety testing, performance verification, and operations procedures for various types of equipment.

  • Knowledge and skills related to precautions and activities that prevent or guard against crime, attack, sabotage, or destruction.
