Bergen Regional Medical Center SECURITY GUARD in United States


Serves as a liaison between patients/visitors and hospital staff; preserves the peace and safeguards patients, visitors and employees from fire, theft and vandalism on Medical Center property through the enforcement of hospital regulations and applicable New Jersey Sate law; maintains security of parking lots, parking and directing cars and collecting parking fees as directed.

Patrols all areas of Medical Center, including stairwells and areas not accessible to the public in order to prevent and/or detect fires, thefts, vandalism and other security problems.

Acts as liaison between patients/visitors and the Medical Center, interpreting the Medical Center's philosophy, policies, procedures and services to patients' families and visitors.

Provides regular reports on patient/visitor issues to administration; investigates and directs inquiries to appropriate staff members.

Assists in referring patients and visitors to appropriate services and resources; responds personally when other alternatives are not available.

Detects violations of the law and makes arrests when necessary, and represents the Medical Center as the complainant/witness in any court proceedings that result.

Prepares incident reports and conducts investigations when necessary.

Assists in restraining emotionally disturbed patients.

Directs cars into available spots in parking garage or lot. Re-parks double-parked cars, noting final parking spot on ticket attached to keys and placing keys on keyboard.

Reports parking violations and abandoned vehicles.

Assumes role of switchboard operator on midnight shift.

Logs totals of daily receipts into the daily account sheet at end of every shift.


High School graduation or equivalent required.

Current Driver’s License required.**

Previous experience in the security field.

Must pass security guard test and/or approved training through Bergen County Police & Fire Academy as required.

Ability to drive standard shift cars.

Able to prepare written reports and conduct investigations when needed.
