Position Purpose

Responsible for focusing on an individual child’s history, experiences, and needs in order to find an appropriate adoptive family. Facilitates the matches of children with appropriate families by utilizing Child Focused Recruitment Strategies. Tactics of the Child Focused Recruitment Strategy include initial child referral; relationship with the child; case record review; assessment; adoption preparation; network building; recruitment plan; diligent search. Position may from time to time be stressful and require a high demand of performance. May perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions
  • Contact the child’s caseworker to introduce the role of Wendy’s Wonderful Kids, gather initial referral information, establish date to begin case file review, and schedule initial meeting with child
  • Meet with the child monthly at a minimum
  • Conduct an in-depth review of the existing case file
  • Develop a system to document the required seven key points in the child’s history
  • Assess child’s preparedness for adoption through written assessment
  • Update written assessment quarterly
  • Assure that the child is prepared for adoption
  • Assure that the identified adoptive family is adequately prepared to meet the needs of the child
  • Meet with and have regular ongoing contact with persons close to and knowledgeable about the child
  • Develop a comprehensive recruitment plan customized and defined by the needs of the child
  • Update and review comprehensive recruitment plan on a quarterly basis
  • Conduct a diligent search of potential adoptive families
  • Conduct regular contact with individuals who are approved by the case manager and identified as potential resources for the child
Minimum Qualifications

Suitable work experience may be considered as transferable skills in order to meet minimum requirements of the position, and will be considered by the Corporate Director of Human Resources.

  • Bachelor’s in Human Services or related field
  • Two years experience in child welfare with an emphasis in foster care adoption
  • Experience with group and individual counseling/teaching skills in a child welfare setting
  • Ability to prepare verbal and written reports and testimony
  • Excellent data entry skills (speed and accuracy)
  • Proven skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Proven strong communication skills – oral and written are clear, concise, and in an organized fashion using appropriate style, grammar and tone
  • Ability to obtain State of Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Valid Arizona Driver License, proof of insurance, Arizona Motor Vehicle Division 39 month Motor Vehicle Report, and have reliable, safe transportation
Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education or related field
  • Additional years of directly related experience
  • Bilingual, English / Spanish verbal and written
  • Licensure by Board of Behavioral Health
