The Psychotic Disorders Unit is a 22-bed adult unit devoted exclusively to the care of patients with chronic schizophrenia. Patients are aided by active behavioral treatment and medication trials, illness education, social skills training and specialized activity therapy. The Psychotic Disorders Unit is located on Sheppard Pratt's main campus in Towson (Baltimore County).
The Psychotic Disorders Unit has an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Worker! *This is a 32 hour per week benefit eligible position.* The Mental Health Worker, under close supervision of the Staff Nurse, participates in the planning and evaluation of patient needs based on patient behaviors. Provides direct patient care services in accordance with the treatment plan and under the direction of a professional nurse. Assists in providing a safe and therapeutic environment according to established policies and procedures.
?HS Diploma/GED. Human Services related degree or past direct care or related experience strongly preferred.
?Must be available to work every other weekend (Saturday & Sunday).
?Must be available to attend 7 day mandatory clinical orientation training: Thursday, Friday and the following Monday through Friday (excluding Saturday & Sunday), 8:00am-4:30pm each day.
?In addition to the 7 day clinical orientation, you will be required to complete a 4 week unit orientation. During this time you will be required to work 3 day shifts per week.
