Major Gifts Officers work closely with physicians, volunteers, and staff to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts of $100,000+. Moves management plans for each assigned prospect that will need to be developed and implemented. In order to be successful, Gifts Officers will need to work collaboratively with other staff in the Development Office and be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. In this role, you will manage a portfolio of approximately 150 major gift prospects, including personally soliciting these prospects, as appropriate. Design, implement, and assess effective strategies to cultivate and solicit major gift prospects. Engage physicians, administration, volunteers, and staff, involving them in strategy development and solicitations, keeping them apprised of interactions, and collaborating to ensure maximum fundraising effectiveness. Staff committees and various cultivation and stewardship events. Maintain knowledge of relevant clinical developments and fundraising trends.
Demonstrated success soliciting and closing major gifts
Experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with major-gift level donors
Solid experience managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors
Demonstrated ability to navigate within a fast-paced, highly-complex organization emphasizing teamwork, respect, and excellence
Strong organizational and planning skills with attention to detail
Appreciation and understanding of NewYork-Presbyterian’s mission and the ability to effectively communicate it
3-5 years of direct fundraising experience
Excellent written and oral communication skills
