You can make a real difference in the lives of at-risk youth when you join the dedicated team at Naselle Youth Camp. We are recruiting to fill three on-call Cook 1 positions that prepare and serve food with the help from youth who have been committed to Rehabilitation Administration (RA) by the juvenile courts.
In this position, you will prepare food following standardized recipes. In your daily responsibilities, you will anticipate and perform preliminary preparation for the next day's meals and assist in the preparation of main entrees. Cooks operate standard and industrial kitchen equipment in a large-scale kitchen environment and clean the kitchen, dining area, utensils and equipment, and maintain kitchen equipment. You will monitor, store, and rotate food and kitchen supplies. Cooks in this position monitor and instruct youth trainees in food preparation, sanitation, and safety procedures. As part of this supervision, you will recognize and assess problem situations and intervene to maintain safety and security within a secure juvenile justice treatment environment.
We are looking for someone with one year of experience in large-scale food preparation or cooking.
Completion of a course in large-scale cooking may be substituted for the one year of experience.
NOTE: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Food Handler's permit.
