The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is seeking a goals oriented professional with strong project management skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment for the Manager, Fare Media Services position. The Manager, Fare Media Services is a critical part of the daily operation with the Office of the Treasurer at WMATA. Successful candidates will provide sound leadership and customer facing operations support at several remote locations leveraging experience with revenue sensitive areas, fiduciary oversight and industry best practices. Candidates must demonstrate sound judgment, strong verbal and written communication skills and work collaboratively with other teams across the Authority to achieve common goals. Preferred skills include customer service, operations support, inventory management, sales, problem solving, analytical skills and change management. Knowledge of AS400 legacy system, Maximo and implementing new technology initiatives is desired.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Marketing, Business Administration, or related field and at least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in fare distribution and sales, auditing, inventory control, sales administration or a related are. Previous related supervisory experience is required.
Or, an equivalent combination of post high school education in Accounting, Marketing, Business Administration or a related field with a minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in fare distribution and sales, auditing, inventory control, sales administration or a related area. Previous related supervisory experience is required.
Satisfactorily complete the medical examination for this position, if required. The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of this position either with or without reasonable accommodations.
This is professional managerial fare distribution and sales work of difficult and complex nature. Incumbent develops, coordinates, and implement plans and procedures to include maintaining adequate fare media stock inventories, developing efficient distribution networks and ensuring sales outlets are properly served, and timely and accurately processing refunds submitted by customers. Maintains custody of the Authority's imprest funds; administers and directs the Metrorail fare redemption and fare media encoding. Incumbent leads and manages professional staff in the fare distribution and sales office. Has latitude for independent judgment and action within established policy, regulations, and guidelines.
Plans, directs, evaluates and coordinates the personnel and activities of the fare distribution and sales office. Develops and implements policies and procedures for the section.
Develops and directs internal inventory controls of fare media to ensure proper levels are maintained and stock is distributed according to jurisdictional demands.
Plans and directs the distribution of fare media items to outlets.
Performs ongoing review, analysis, and evaluations of the Authority's fare media consignment activities and proper handling of fare media to ensure the quantity of fare media.
Implements and administers fare subsidy program as requested by jurisdictions.
Manages, coordinates, and evaluates to ensure that the verification, balancing, depositing, and reporting of fare media receipts are properly processed.
Coordinates with the Office of Marketing during the development of new fare programs and provides the required guidelines for the fare distribution.
Responds to passenger inquiries and complaints regarding fare card and Bus/Rail Pass Programs.
Maintains custody of the Authority's imprest funds to ensure custodian's handling is properly used as to established guidelines. Performs periodic field audits of Authority's Petty Cash Custodians and implements changes to current practices as appropriate.
Discusses complaints and grievances with employees or their representatives attempting to resolve complaints in accordance with sounds employee relations practices.
