Children Northwest Pre-K Teacher-Nierenberg in Vancouver, Washington

General Responsibilities Under the direction of the center director, the Early Learning Teacher is responsible for the creation of a learning environment which is safe, healthy, stimulating and caring, with activities designed around children's interests and developmental needs. Assignment and Location: The Pre-K teacher position is approx. 8 hrs/day, Monday-Friday at our Patricia Nierenberg Early Learning Center. Essential Functions/Other Functions Essential Functions: Plan developmentally appropriate child centered curriculum (areas may include art, science, dramatic play, gross motor, music and library) Plan the program to meet the needs of the individual child with concerns for their interests, disabilities, special talents, cultural background and individual styles. Develop and follow class schedule which includes staff responsibilities. Plan and set up the environment of the room with well defined interest areas. Set up toys and materials so that they are accessible to children. Post and implement appropriate guidance techniques and current lesson plans in the classroom. Supervise, interact, and play with children during assigned times of responsibilities. Maintain a safe, orderly, clean and healthy room environment, including administering first aid and handling emergencies. Assist with toileting, diapering, and hygiene needs of children. Establish and maintain positive communication using collaborative methods to problem solve and interact with families, children, and staff. Maintain all center records in an accurate and timely manner and in accordance with policy and procedures. Provide direction to child care assistants, temporary staff, and volunteers. Participate regularly in staff meetings, inservice programs, workshops. Maintain child and parent confidentiality. Support and follow the direction of the center supervisor. Follow USDA guidelines (including meal counts and service procedures). Other Functions:
