Nurse Tech Training Class Dates:

January 22nd through February 9th, 2018

We are only accepting applications for the January 22nd through February 9th class at this time and will only consider applicants who are available to attend the entire three week period.

NURSE TECHNICIAN TRAINING PROGRAM SUMMARY

The Nurse Tech Training Program at Saint Francis Hospital is a three-week intense course which prepares you to successfully perform the Nurse Tech duties at Saint Francis Hospital as listed below. After graduation from the program you will be eligible to be placed in a Nurse Tech position within Saint Francis Hospital. This training Program does NOT qualify you to take the Oklahoma CNA Certification exam, but is designed to train you to work as a Nurse Tech within Saint Francis Hospital. The program is a combination of classroom training and clinical training on a unit. The course requires attendance Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during the first two weeks and 6:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. the third week. The training course is paid training and there is no expense to you as we provide all materials including books, however we do require you to provide your own scrubs (uniforms). An application and an interview are required for all potential candidates.

Requirements:

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be age 18 or older.
  • Must be available the entire three weeks of the program,January 22th through February 9th, 2018.

The Nurse Tech performs the following skills (not all-inclusive) for a varied group of patients, per shift:

· Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Bath and Mouth Care, Bed Making, Lifting, Turning, Transfers, Feeding, etc.

· Measure Vital Signs

· Measure Pulse Oximetry

· Record Intake and Output

· Monitor Blood Glucose Levels

· Assist Patients with Incentive Spirometer

· Provide Skin Care

· Empty Ostomy Pouch

· Care for Urinary Catheter

· Administer Enemas

· Collect Stool and Urine Specimens

Nurse Tech Job Summary:

Nurse Techs are under the supervision of Licensed Nursing Personnel (Registered Nurses/Licensed Practical Nurses) and must have good interpersonal skills, good communication skills and excellent team working abilities. The Nurse Tech spends the most time with patients, and their care directly impacts patient satisfaction.
