Description: Responsible for the planning and execution of effective Public Relations and Media Relations to support the company’s business goals. Serves as an account manager for the company’s Air Warfare Systems product line. Also serves as a subject-matter expert for external communications. Develops and maintains strong relationships with journalists worldwide. Provides counsel to and collaborates with company leadership to positively position company products and executives in the news media and other communications channels. Develops innovative ways to communicate through Social Media channels. Uses Social Media to monitor and communicate with key journalists. Works as part of an assigned Communications team made up of Employee Communications, Digital Communications, Marketing Communications, Video, Photo, and others, to produce written messaging and other deliverables. Works closely with team members and other subject matter experts across the business to build integrated communications plans that increase positive external exposure for the company, its products and its leaders. Uses metrics to track the effectiveness of communications campaigns. Experience in defense or other high technology industries where scientific discovery and innovative engineering lead to competitive advantage. Must exhibit good judgment and demonstrated success working independently as a strategist and business partner. Demonstrated success in building bridges to journalists, pitching stories and securing positive media coverage. Solid experience working with the Microsoft Office suite as well as familiarity with web-based communications tools. Knowledge of and proven application of public relations, marketing and other communications practices. Advocate of public relations discipline in a full-service communications environment. Must possess expert-level writing skills. Proficiency with Social Media. Demonstrated experience maintaining solid internal relationships and strong brand image practices. Strong work ethic along with excellent interpersonal, strong leadership and teamwork skills. Demonstrated experience working effectively with people at all levels across the organization. Occasional travel within the U.S. and internationally. Required qualifications: · At least 8 years of direct defense industry communications or related business experience with an emphasis on public relations and media relations · Expert-level writing skills, solid grasp of English grammar and working knowledge of Associated Press style · Demonstrated expertise writing for web and print environments.
