HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Clinical Nurse Specialist PRN in Thornton, Colorado

This position supports the mission of North Suburban Medical Center. The Wound Care CNS oversees and directs the care of the Wound Management Center patient seen for wound care. The Wound Care CNS coordinates all aspects of patient care delivered in the clinic and by ancillary services. Responsible for direct patient care, including planning, directing and provision of nursing care to patients in accordance with the Colorado Nurse Practice Act, Physician Orders, recognized nursing techniques and policies, procedures, established clinical competencies based on NSMC’s wound care protocols. The Wound Care CNS is responsible to manage the quality management program for each patient using the Wound Management Center algorithms. Demonstrates critical thinking and leadership in the anticipation and planning for the care of the patient. Responsible for meeting the clinical competencies set forth by NSMC. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

II. Position Requirements: A. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, CPR Certified.

B. Education: Degree in nursing or medical technology. Master’s in Public Health or related field, preferred.

C. Experience: Minimum of two years acute care; ambulatory care highly desirable.

D. Special Qualifications: Provide courteous, positive and professional image. Demonstrates superior interpersonal skills. Ability to work with staff in wound care and with other departments, ability to problem solve and handle multiple priorities. Knowledge of general nursing theory and practice including, but not limited to, asepsis and sterile technique, principles of body mechanics, and medication administration. Knowledge of learning principles for all ages and the ability to teach and develop an effective patient education program. Completes position responsibilities by following established guidelines and protocols with the appropriate time frames. Demonstrates good skills in all forms of communication. Works well with others in a spirit of cooperation. Maintains education and development appropriate for the position. Adheres to established hospital and departmental guidelines and protocols. Supports hospital mission, vision and values. Performs position-specific job functions at an acceptable level.
