POSITION GOAL: The Occupational Therapist performs assessments, develops a plan of care and provides treatment to patients in the appropriate age ranges as listed: school age, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. This individual maintains patient treatment records, teaches patient, family, and/or caregiver and participates in clinical and inservice educational programs. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: E1. Responsible for performing Occupational Therapy assessments, re-assessments and treatment in accordance with physicians' orders. E2. Completes accurate, appropriate documentation per policy. E3. Responsible for following the Texas Occupational Therapy Practice Act. E4. Maintains department supply level. E5. Assists in Quality Assessment and Improvement activities. E6. Adheres to and complies with HCA's ethics and compliance policies in the Code of Conduct. Attends annual training sessions. E7. Assures that patients' charges are timely and accurate. E8. Coordinates patient treatment schedule with other disciplines to assure efficient, quality care. E9. Attends and participates in team conferences as assigned. E10. Maintains professional exchange of information in all communications. E11. Assists with orientation of new personnel. E12. Keeps abreast of current requirements of governmental reporting agencies in the area of delivery of Occupational Therapy services. E13. Keeps abreast of current literature and treatment techniques. E14. Provides both oral and written educational information to patients and caregivers. E15. Assists in verification and/or authorization and pre-authorization procedures to assure therapy sessions are covered by insurance carriers. E16. Plans effectively and independently for changes in workload.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Experience: Experience in occupational therapy, new graduates of an accredited school are acceptable Education: Graduate of accredited school of Occupational Therapy; educational requirements appropriate for meeting age-specific needs of the patients Special Qualifications: 1. Current licensure with The Texas State Board of OT Examiners or eligible to apply for a temporary license by the Texas State Board of OT Examiners. 2. Demonstrates current clinical competence, as outlined in the appropriate orientation checklist 3. Maintains current clinical competence a. Annual Skills Checklist 4.
