HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Director of Clinical Documentation - CDI in Tallahassee, Florida

The Director of Clinical Documentation Improvement oversees the Clinical Documentation Improvement program. Directs and develops the Clinical Documentation department and activities to meet department and corporate targets and goals. Tracks and trends program compliance. Is involved in the direction and education of all phases of the Clinical Documentation process and works in a professional manner with physicians, staff, and consultants. Works with the Lead CDI to organize and coordinate the CDI team. Serves as the Subject Matter Expert SME) for any topics related to provider documentation. Coordinates meetings and education for the CDI team and other facility staff as needed. Represent the CDI team at Facility, Division, or Corporate meetings. Completes special projects as assigned.

Works to develop education for Division/Facility CMO’s, participates in Mortality review and attends Quality meetings as needed. Collaborates with Centralized Abstraction to evaluate coding review and discrepancy. Works with the Division Denial Director to review and evaluate coding and coding discrepancies as it relates to denials. Collaborates with HSC/CDI to resolve 2 ndand 3rdreconciliation reviews. Works with facilities and Division as needed to accomplish special requests for coding expertise, physician education, and development of new services.


  2. Licensure/Certification/Registration:
    Current RN License or RHIT/RHIA and CDIP/CCDS. CCS preferred

  3. Education:
    Associates Degree

  4. Experience:
    Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an acute care setting as a CDIS
