HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Physical Therapy Asst PRN in St Petersburg, Florida

Under the direction of the physical therapist, provides treatment and rehabilitative services to patients to improve mobility, relieve pain and disability.

The PTA Assists the physical therapist during patient testing, evaluations and complex procedures. Administers therapeutic modalities and performs other activities according to the plan of care established by the licensed physical therapist.
Directs and acts as a safeguard while patients' practice therapeutic exercises and functional activities. Sizes and adjusts patients' for orthopedic braces, prostheses and other supportive devices as needed. Conducts patient education, including post care planning, proper use of supportive devices and equipment, and gait and functional training. Records, monitors, analyzes and reviews clinical data. Provides feedback to therapist regarding possible modifications to treatment plan and goals based upon patient performance. Adapts recognized therapeutic techniques and modalities to meet the needs of the patient.
Accurately records and documents care and any changes in patient condition, results, behavior, observations, or complaints and reports to Physical Therapist.

Associate in Science (A.S.) degree or Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Physical Therapy Assistant program

Experience in appropriate healthcare setting preferred

Current State of Florida Physical Therapy Assistant License

Current BLS (Basic Life Support) through American Heart Association

Critical thinking and adaptability, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal and written instructions, PC skills
