HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Division Director of Surgical Services Education in St Petersburg, Florida
The West Florida Division is seeking a dynamic leader for Division Director of OR Education. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing a comprehensive clinical education program for West Florida Division Surgical Services. In addition, this individual will be responsible for improving patient care processes and outcomes for Surgical Services by supporting the development of a competent clinical team as well as consults with Division and Hospital Leaders, Medical Staff, and other Education Directors as a subject matter expert for evidence based care of patients in the surgical services setting.
Executes a plan for education and competency development activities that support the transition from novice to expert in Surgical Services Departments, including but not limited to Operating Rooms, PACU, and Outpatient Surgery Departments.
Consults with Parallon Workforce Management Services for onboarding of nurses from the West Florida Division STAR-N program for Surgical Services
Aligns education and competency programs with AORN and evidence based practice standards.
Acts as a coach and mentor for Surgical Services Department preceptors, charge nurses and managers.
Supports nurses seeking and maintaining certification, including but not limited to CNOR, RNFA, CRNFA, and CPAN by providing continuing education activities.
Supports surgical technologists and sterile processing technicians seeking and maintaining certification, including CST, CST FA, and Certified Registered Central Services Technician (CRCST).
Develops and delivers continuing education activities for nurses, techs, physicians, and other clinicians working in the surgery setting.
Measures outcomes of education and competency development plans including patient experience scores, core measure performance, RN recruitment and retention, etc.
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
o Current Florida RN License.
o CNOR certification required within 90 days of hire
Education: Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or other clinical field.
o BLS and ACLS provider
o Analytical and critical thinking abilities
o Effective written, oral and electronic communicator
o Manages multiple priorities effectively
Degree of Supervision:
o Must be able to work independently and in a collaborative setting
Work Environment / Conditions:
o Use of personal computer and software applications for long periods of time
o Position requires work from a shared office, hospital, surgery centers, and remote locations.
o 60% Travel required within the West Florida Division
