Millwright – Journey Level III

Written and Performance Certified - Able to perform journey tasks proficiently with little or no supervision. Can perform leadership role.

Installs and aligns machinery and equipment according to precise requirements of drawings and specifications.

The journey Millwright reads blue prints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures. Dismantles machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools. Moves machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks. Assembles and installs equipment, such as shafting, conveyors and monorails using hand tools and power tools. Constructs foundations for machines using hand tools and building materials, such as wood, cement and steel. Aligns machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers and plumb bobs. Assembles machines and bolts, welds, rivets or otherwise fastens them to foundation or other structures using hand tools and power tools. May operate engine lathe to grind, file and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications. May repair and lubricate machines and equipment.

Qualifications:

Work environment: Normal work environment will be shop or field which will require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals and airborne particles.

Communication Skills: Ability to effectively verbally communicate directions from craft supervisors, and respond to questions from managers and fellow workers.

Mathematical skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Other: Must supply own tools appropriate for basic tasks
