This position is for a PLC(Controls) Engineer at the Spring Hill Powertrain Facility in Spring Hill, TN

Responsible fora PLC(controls) engineering and electrical support for engine manufacturing areas. Manage electrical projects and operation improvements as well as periodic repair and replacement. Participate in functional area meetings to represent engineering and assist in improving the plant’s performance goals. Candidates must be capable of performing in a highly technical Global Controls environment with an extensive background in manufacturing operations.

* Responsibilities of this position include:*

  • Providing technical controls support for engine manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Production and Maintenance Guidance – Assist electricians with technical troubleshooting and direction
  • Provide and implement solutions for sustaining equipment with obsolete equipment where spare parts are no longer available
  • Resolve Cimplicity networking problems between process equipment and the IT Network
  • Resolve problems between the process equipment and the Andon Systems
  • Resolve data collection and reporting problems with Maintenance Tool Box/Down Time Reporting (DTR)
  • Resolve technical issues with the Tool Management systems
  • Resolve floor level IT communication issues with Managed Network Switches (Hirschmann)
  • Resolve communication issues between process equipment and the direct material systems – MGO, EPS, ECPS
  • Implement controls modifications for continuous improvement associated with throughput improvement processes (TIPS)
  • Maintain controls documents and information
  • Launch new PM&C and Andon system projects

The position will require overtime and some off-shift production support.

Basic Skills Required:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in Control Engineeringin an Automotive/Engine Manufacturing Facility and/or high-tech Manufacturing Facility
  • High level of analytical ability and creativity where problems are unusual and difficult
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • Strong work ethic (self-starter, responsible, follow through on assignments)
  • Ability to work with people at all levels of the organization in a team environment

  • Nematron HMIs and Open Control programming and troubleshooting
  • GE Intelligence, Simatic, and Panelmate HMIs
  • Profibus networks
  • I/O systems – Lumberg e2c, Siemens ET200x and ET200Pro
  • HMI software – GE Cimplity Machine Edition and GE VersaPro
  • Microsoft Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 7
  • GE 90/30 PLCs
  • Paragon software
  • Servo drive systems:SIEI,GE Fanuc Powermate D/H, Indramat Ecodrive and Indradrive
  • Balogh RFID
  • Telesis Pin stamp

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience and training.
