Manage the Business Network Engineering Network Technician staff, assisting staff with processing customer inquiries and contract fulfillment.


  • Supervise staff and provide direction to the Network Technicians for customer facing network builds.

  • Provide timely performance feedback and coaching; including but not limited to: annual reviews and management of disciplinary and performance issues.

  • Participate in the installation and ongoing maintenance of Midco and customer networks, and support various groups within Midco by helping to resolve escalated issues andproblems.

  • Plan and execute formal technical training for Network Technicians; mentor and assist with the growth and development of the staff.

  • Plan and implement advanced layer 2 network augments.

  • Implement advanced layer 2 switching configurations.

  • Understand intermediate routing configuration.

  • Resolve most Layer 1,2 and 3 issues.

  • Support installations and maintenance of Midco and customer networks.

  • Assist management in the budgeting process by providing ideas, justification, and documentation.

  • Work with vendors to assist in design, installation, and troubleshooting.

  • Participate in the network management and maintenance of routers, switches, etc, and provide assistance handling network outages and problems.

  • Assist in the implementation and documentation of LAN, WAN, and MAN networks.

  • Provide effective problem solving support for a variety of Midco’s groups, including Customer Service, Engineering, NOC, etc. Report significant activity to the NOC and keepdetailed statistics regarding these activities.

  • Provide assistance with projects, including diagramming, reporting, documenting, time management, etc.

  • Provide effective “on call” support and be prepared to work other than regular business hours as necessary.

  • Monitor expenses, purchase orders and receiving documents for Network Technician transactions.

  • Communicate and maintain up-to-date, accurate documentation for passwords, diagrams, security, etc.


  • Effectively communicate with other departments to handle any escalating issues in a timely manner.

  • Function as an effective team member while supporting the efforts and concepts of other departments.

  • Support the mission, vision, and values of Midco.

  • Apply personal ethics, honesty, initiative, flexibility, responsibility and confidentiality in all areas of responsibility.

  • Adhere to Midco privacy guidelines to ensure each customer’s privacy.

  • Maintain regular attendance as required by your position.


  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in relevant industry required and/or equivalent job experience.

  • CCNA required, CCNP preferred.

  • Two to three years’ managerial experience preferred.

  • Five years’ network experience in the telecommunications field required.


  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or carry loads of up to 60 lbs.

  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

  • Employees may be required to work in excess of 40 hours per week and other than normal business hours, such as holidays, evenings and weekends as business demands.
