JOB PURPOSE

Develop and execute plans to maintain and grow the core business network. Manage and lead staff with training, project fulfillment and assistance with certifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Supervise staff and provide direction to the Network Technicians for core network functions.

  • Provide timely performance feedback and coaching; including but not limited to: annual reviews and management of disciplinary and performance issues.

  • Plan and execute formal technical training for Business Network Technicians; mentor and assist with the growth and development of the staff.

  • Manage the design and maintenance of the Midco network in all aspects. This includes, but is not limited to: LAN, WAN, and MAN networks, routers and switches

  • Implement advanced network configurations, propose new network design ideas, and design advanced routing and switching solutions. Recommend the proper IOS for routers.

  • Successfully design and maintain all aspects of Midco’s core network.

  • Assist management in the budgeting process by providing viable and cost effective solutions, justification, and documentation.

  • Monitor expenses, purchase orders and receiving documents for Network Technician transactions.

  • Manage, monitor, test, and maintain routers, switches, optical shelves, etc. Report significant activity to the Network Operations Center and keep detailed statistics regardingthese activities.

  • Proactively plan for future capacity and execute related action plans.

  • Engage vendors to assist in design, installation, and trouble shooting.

  • Possess an in-depth knowledge of the Midco network and its components.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in relevant industry required and/or equivalent job experience.

  • CCNA required, CCNP preferred.

  • Two to three years’ managerial experience preferred.

  • Eight to ten years’ network experience in the telecommunications field required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or carry loads of up to 60 lbs.

  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

  • Employees may be required to work in excess of 40 hours per week and other than normal business hours, such as holidays, evenings and weekends as business demands.
