Job DescriptionAs the UX Designer, for Amazon Registry Services INc. ("ARSI"), you will have the exciting opportunity to work on one of Amazon's truly greenfield opportunities. Over the next several years, the fabric of the Internet is going to fundamentally change, and Amazon will play a significant part in this change. ARSI is looking for an experienced and motivated designer that will help push the boundaries for customers that want to get online by providing them with simple solutions to engage in the global world of the internet. As an early member of the team you will have a significant opportunity to establish our product vision and impact the customer experience for markets in the developing world. It will be a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, but test driven environment seeking to inform critical and tough decisions with research. You will work collaboratively 3rd party researchers, product managers, developers, users, and executives -- leading design throughout the planning and development lifecycle for a multitude of interfaces, creating user flows for various products. You should be at ease visualizing an experience in the abstract and then driving that vision into solid design deliverables such as user interface designs, interaction models, and prototypes. Responsibilities: Work closely and in an agile environment with cross-functional teams and collaborate and push the boundaries of design with product managers, developers, and researchers to define and achieve a holistic product vision for the needs of customers in the developing world. Develop and provide thought leadership in the architecture of near and long term user experience for features and products across applicable devices. Consider and leverage all available insights including market analysis, customer feedback, site metrics, and usability findings in all design activities. Actively participate in the design on user research from concept to production. Develop conceptual diagrams, wireframes, detailed visual mockups and prototypes to communicate high-level design strategies and detailed interaction behaviors. Develop and maintain effective specifications and design patterns. Responsibly and effectively advocate for the customer in a corporate environment; fostering a shared understanding of the customer-centric intersection between design, content, business and marketing values. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Design or related field. 5+ years of professional experience as an interaction designer, experience designer, or similar role An online portfolio of work demonstrating experience creating user-centered design solutions (flows, prototypes, wireframes) and solid visual designs (mockups and style guides) across desktop and mobile devices. Ability to create interactive prototypes in HTML, JavaScript, Flash, Axure, or a server side scripting language. Proficient skill level in the standard tools, such as Photoshop, Fireworks, Visio, Omnigraffe, Illustrator. Preferred Qualifications Ability to quickly turn around rigorous wireframes and mockups in an agile environment Ability to manage ambiguity, work autonomously, and multi-task Be willing to roll up the sleeves and do what is necessary to meet team goals.
