The Transfusion and Tissue Support Technician ensures the safe and timely processing of all blood component orders, specimens for compatibility testing, and issuing of all blood components for administration in all inpatient and outpatient settings. In addition, this job coordinates the processing of specimens for suspected transfusion reactions, and acts as the conduit for all routine blood component order information to and from the Puget Sound Blood Center. Qualifications * This position requires a High School diploma and one year of Medical Laboratory experience. * In addition, this position requires high level of attention to detail, the ability to work productively in a high stress, high pace environment and the ability to think clearly in urgent situations. * Candidate must possess a strong customer focus, excellent organizational skills, and an ability to accurately manage multiple tasks simultaneously. * Must have an understanding of Operating Room Sterile Field Protocol. * Strong communication skills, strong computer skills and a working knowledge of quality control concepts also required. Preferred: Associates Degree or post-secondary education with an emphasis in the sciences including courses in Chemistry and Biology preferred.
