The Video Ads team builds the user interface and services to power Video Advertising on Amazon’s robust streaming video platform across web browsers, mobile phones, tablets. and internet-TV devices.

We are looking for a passionate, results oriented, and innovative systems engineer to play a leading role in the development of ad serving, analytics and machine learning products. Successful candidates for this position will be self-starters with strong design and coding skills who love shipping great product.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver tools supporting our video advertising business.

  • Day to day Engineering and Administration of large scale distributed systems.

  • You will guide the organization and implement best practices to deliver on operational improvements.

  • Own a global hardware stack.

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or other technical degree and/or related experience

  • Ability to design and implement scalable and highly available systems.

  • Prior experience with Unix or Unix like environments.

  • Knowledge of Python, Scala, or other scripting languages

  • Strong, object-oriented design and coding skills (C/C++ and/or Java preferably on a UNIX or Linux platform)

  • a plus

  • Experience with distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, and relational databases

  • Experience in the advertising industry a plus.

  • Flexibility: having a propensity to use the right tool for the job.

  • Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions

  • Deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems; ability to think abstractly

  • Well-rounded technologists with experience automating with AWS tools.

  • You lead engineering best practices in your current role.
