Sr. Manager, Marketing and Insights in Seattle, Washington

We are looking for an entrepreneurial, creative and analytical senior leader to lead Marketing and Insights for our Private Brands. This position will lead a team through the definition of our brand portfolio strategy and go to market plans of our new launches. Responsibilities span customer insights, brand management, social and affiliate marketing, partnership, promotions and content, creative development and driving innovation in the customer shopping experience.

This role requires an individual with a passion for brands and a willingness to move fast & experiment often. The successful candidate will be comfortable with ambiguity, have strong attention to detail, and be motivated by a fast-paced start up environment. The ideal candidate will have previous marketing or insights experience, CPG brand management background, or experience in the retail private label environment. He or she will know how to define a brand strategy, positioning and execution priorities; and will be comfortable thinking big and diving deep. As a marketing general manager and facilitator, this person should be as comfortable with the marketing science and art, and be sharp enough to know how to use one to inform the other.

The Senior Leader’s primary responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and owning the brand strategy, positioning and visual identity for existing and new private brands.

  • Recruiting, hiring and developing a team of strong performers, and developing a strong culture of rapid experimentation, measurement, and iteration.

  • Lead Customer Insights, Marketing Strategy and Marketing Execution. Over time, build internal product design capabilities as well.

  • Developing a strong culture of rapid experimentation, measurement, and iteration

  • Using quantitative and qualitative data to understand customer behavior and apply those insights to our marketing levers.

  • Contributing to category goals including sales, operating profit, cost per new customer, customer trial of products, subscription rate and customer re-purchase rate.

  • Partnering closely with cross functional teams including the retail category teams, various software platform owners, central marketing teams and finance to deliver on brand equity, operating profit, and customer satisfaction.

  • Maintaining an effective and efficient organizational design that allows our program to scale in both number of countries and number of brands and products.

  • Bachelor’s Degree

    • 10+ years of relevant experience including retail private label, CPG, Home or Fashion brand management and insights, or marketing in a retail ecommerce environment.

    • Experience with brand management and product marketing

    • Experience with hiring and developing team members

    • Demonstrated experience using hard data and metrics to measure performance and make adjustments accordingly

    • Experience leading cross-functional teams, achieving goals on-time and on-budget

    • Experience communicating and presenting to senior management

    • Able to thrive in an ambiguous environment helping bring structure and delivering results.

    • Outstanding writing, presentation and communication skills

  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to distill, synthesize, and draw conclusions on large amounts of data

    • Demonstrated ability to define and successfully deliver complex projects with superior ROI—from business case development through deployment

    • Ability to deal with ambiguous problems and build solutions with proper project management

    • Demonstrated experience using hard data and metrics to measure performance, determine improvements and innovations, and to support project requests from partner teams

    • Ability to influence multiple stakeholders and lead cross-functional projects across category or other departments

    • The ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization/time management and problem solving skills

    • Aptitude for being organized with flexibility and for delivering results in a fast-paced environment

    • Advanced Excel and SQL skills

    • MBA

    • Experience the Home, Furniture, Fashion or CPG industries.
