Sr. Inventory Manager in Seattle, Washington Business Industrial and Scientific Supplies (BISS) team is looking for a smart, analytical, driven leader as a Senior Inventory Manager. The ideal candidate will have a highly analytical, process-driven background. This position will be responsible for developing strategic business plans for the business unit as well as tactical execution.

We are changing the way businesses procure products by becoming a one-stop shop for business and industrial customers requiring a broad range of items, including bench-top centrifuges commonly found in laboratories, radiation detectors designed for environmental testing, and carbide end mills used to machine titanium.

This position offers an exciting introduction to Amazon operations and the opportunity to take a leadership role in building one of Amazon’s fastest growing businesses. The Senior Inventory Manager works directly with multiple internal teams, vendors, and management. This position is responsible for sourcing products, building cross-team relationships, negotiating with systems team to fine-tune tools & processes for their market segment, and partnering with Amazon Business product management team to pilot operational initiatives.

This role is an ideal for a leader with strong analytical skills & business acumen who is looking to develop into the next stage of his/her career path. He/she will work with partner teams such as Amazon Global Inventory Planning, Delivery Experience, and NA Operations to ensure that our demand forecasting, inventory management systems and supply chain network are able to handle both business-customer orders & end-consumer orders (e.g., bulk quantities, auto replenishment at scale, vendor managed inventory solutions, multiple ship to addresses, business-delivery, business driven seasonality, etc.).

This role will require thought leadership to determine the best way to meet the various customer requirements balancing speed, reliability, and cost. In some cases this will require redesign of our existing process, network or systems, or the leveraging of new technologies to meet customer requirements. The role will require influencing senior leaders of current systems and the Amazon network.

The successful candidate must be highly organized and should have experience in planning, forecasting, and a business background in retail, wholesale or e-commerce channel sales or marketing. They must be able to work in a highly demanding but collegial environment where teamwork is a must. The right candidate will be flexible, action and results oriented, and self-starting. They must also be decisive and able to move with speed to implement their own ideas.

  • 5+ years of experience in Retail, Retail Buying, Category Management, or Supply Chain / Inventory Management

  • Strong problem solving, highly analytical, attention to detail with solid organizational skills

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain, Engineering or Industrial Management, MBA preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects - prioritization, planning and task delegation

  • Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results

  • MBA or Master’s Degree in Operations

  • Demonstrated track record of delivering large, cross-functional, customer facing products

  • Hands on operational experience nice to have (e.g., running a fulfillment center, demand planning of inventory)

  • A solid grasp of (or desire / ability to learn) the business side of technology with an understanding and zeal for metrics/analysis to deliver on business objectives

  • Ability to establish credibility and work with key internal partners to get things done

  • Exceptional and effective verbal and written communication skills
