Software Development Manager in Seattle, Washington

Our Advertiser Intelligence team is looking for a Software Development Manager to participate in the full development lifecycle of recommendation and forecasting systems that help advertisers and sellers easily create and manage even the largest campaigns optimized for various measures of effectiveness. With a broad mandate to experiment and innovate, we are growing at an unprecedented rate with a seemingly endless range of new product opportunities.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about quality, consistency, maintainability, performance, security and all the other things that make great software great. You will own the design and implementation of major deliverables end-to-end. This position requires collaboration with UX designers, product managers, technical program managers, and partner teams, necessitating a comfort-level with ambiguity and a desire to create, iterate and improve.

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related discipline; or equivalent experience (based on 3 years of relevant work experience for every 1 year of education)

  • 3+ years professional experience in software development

  • Proficiency in object-oriented design

  • Proficiency in fundamentals of data structures

  • Proficiency in fundamentals of algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis

  • Proficiency in at least one modern compiled programming language such as Java, Scala, Go or C++

  • Proficiency in at least one modern interpreted language such as Python, Ruby, JavaScript or Perl

  • Familiarity with an agile software development methodology

    • Experience building interactive applications for both browser and mobile contexts, including improving application performance while handling a high volume of requests and large data sets
  • Ability to convert a design document into a working user interface with no loss in fidelity

  • Experience with machine learning at scale

  • Experience with Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Pig

  • Experience with AWS

  • Experience influencing professional software engineering practices for shipping and supporting great software services

  • Experience mentoring other software engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective and productive

  • Success with continuous integration and deployment practices

  • Familiarity with the online advertising or e-commerce industry

  • General awesomeness in software engineering and life
