PATH Senior Applications Developer, Information Technology in Seattle, Washington

Tracking Code 7856 Job Description PATH is an international organization that drives transformative innovation to save lives and improve health, especially among women and children. We accelerate innovation across five platforms-vaccines, drugs, diagnostics, devices, and system and service innovations-that harness our entrepreneurial insight, scientific and public health expertise, and passion for health equity. By mobilizing partners around the world, we take innovation to scale, working alongside countries primarily in Africa and Asia to tackle their greatest health needs. Together, we deliver measurable results that disrupt the cycle of poor health. You are an experienced developer who has consistently delivered software solutions to your customers. You've seen how your technical decisions have performed over time, affecting the maintenance and enhancement of your software, and you've learned from it. You understand that software engineering is a highly-collaborative, deeply creative craft. You have an agile mind, so you're not afraid to have strong opinions, but are able to change your mind when the data doesn't support your approach. You recognize and embrace the power of diversity, both culturally and intellectually. You have a curiosity about the world and a passion for learning new things. Above all, you're looking for an opportunity to use your skills in service to something greater than yourself, something meaningful, something that has the potential to positively impact people's lives. The Software Development team is the software services and delivery group within the Global Information Technology organization, providing software development, quality assurance, platform administration and IT vendor management for all of PATH's software initiatives. The Senior Applications Developer in the Technology Services group is a foundational member of this small team that supports PATH's administrative systems and mission-driven project teams. This position requires an ability to lead small technical teams in the implementation of structured projects and independent efforts, identifying and prioritizing tasks, and coaching more junior engineers to deliver robust, well-designed solutions. This role will work closely with analysts, project managers, business owners and others and must have an ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical people. This role will also work closely with IT leadership to identify techniques and trends in the industry that PATH can incorporate to provide better value to our customers. This role is expected to work independently with little managerial oversight and minimal direction. Successful candidates will be comfortable working autonomously and taking ownership of issues that may arise. Specific responsibilities include: Lead the analysis, design, development, test, and deployment of software applications and components. Provide thought leadership to the development team, identifying technologies and methods that can improve PATH's delivery and support of technical solutions. Participate in problem analysis to understand and influence user expectations of a system. Work closely with the Platform Administrator and team members to identify and remove recurring delivery roadblocks with refactoring, automation and technical debt management. Partner with customers, stakeholders and team members to assist in impact analysis, prioritization and estimation of anticipated work. Required Experience The ideal candidate will have a substantial track record of delivering real solutions to customers, an agile mind and a collaborative nature, a curiosity for the world and a respect for diversity, and an understanding that the process of software development is a deeply creative act. Expertise in C#, ASP.net, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and SQL. Experience with UI frameworks like Angular and React are a plus. Experience in Agile methodologies (Kanban, XP, Lean)
