Position Description Joseph T. Ryerson & Son, Inc., one of the largest metals distributors in the US, is currently seeking a Quality Coordinator to join our team in Seattle, WA.. Background: This position will be responsible for supervising Quality for the PNW. This position reports to the General Manager and will work closely with the Administrative, Operations, and Sales Managers. Description of Job/Tasks: Essential functions: Primary responsibility is to provide overall leadership and expertise in quality, operational effectiveness and overall customer satisfaction. Accordingly s/he will supervise all functions associated with maintaining and managing quality of our product from order to delivery. This includes: Quality: * Conflict resolution with customers and suppliers * Customer satisfaction management of Quality with a 98% on-time delivery requirement and error-free parts * Minimizing customer returns for lowest R&A% possible * PPAP reporting on all required parts * Capability studies and management of all equipment for improvements * SPC tracking of parts/equipment * Management of calibration of all measuring equipment * Administrator for the ISO Certification * Vendor quality management working with our Supply Chain group (includes claim processing) * Implementing and meeting customer specific quality requirements and reporting, including inspection and any additional specific requirements * Identification and implementation of continuous improvements in all work processes * Lean Champion (Utilizing all tools including 5S) * Assure/Monitor completion and instruction of the Corrective Action plans and Preventative Action Plans. Drive Core team in CAR problem solving process. * Lead internal and customer quality audits and reports * Make customer visits representing Ryerson s Quality Department (Joint with Sales) to promote quality awareness, compliance to standards and specifications and provide technical assistance. * Provide and assure the understanding and compliance with all required and applicable product quality specifications (ASTM, ASME, SAE, AMS, Federal, Military, Euro, CAT, customer specifications, ect) * Will lead resolution of all mill claims, and be accountable for timely resolution of freight claims * Manage and analyze any QA lab requests/reports Position Requirements Job Requirements: * 2-year technical degree required, 4-yr college degree preferred * Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisor level role with Quality and Safety experience * Problem solving skills * Computer skills required (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) * Data Analysis skills required (Capability, SPC) * Ability to train and mentor employees * Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage changing priorities and multiple tasks * Track record of self-motivated, results-orientated team player Critical Success Factors: We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.
