Contract Drafter IV - Seattle, WA Requisition ID: 6223 Location: USA, Washington, Seattle Employment Duration: Contract Full time Description POSITION SUMMARY: Natus Medical is hiring Contract Drafters who will operate and modify detailed drawings using CAD hardware and software from sketches, layouts, or notes provided by engineering. Contribute design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Check drawing plots versus the projects input for correctness and conformance to standards. Work with engineers regarding model accuracy, design, drafting standards, and ECN/ECR documentation. Work with system management including file maintenance, backup, and storage. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Work with and support engineers and planners to develop computer-aided design (CAD) drawings for projects by producing complex and detailed standard drawings for systems and reviewing engineering drawings for CAD standards; developing computer-aided design (CAD) drawings from rough sketches or verbal instructions for engineering projects and applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to all drawings; and creating required electronic files for CAD drawing, bills of material, and engineering change notice (ECN). Confirm compliance by staying up-to-date and following all quality system procedures related to this job, which can affect the quality or products or services provided to our customers, including product standards; and maintaining currency in knowledge with relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment and/or systems. Support engineering projects by preparing, planning, and profiling drawings; preparing new drawings and updating existing drawings as needed and converting CAD drawings from outside sources for internal use; storing all drawings electronically and programming into automated manufacturing equipment, explaining concepts to other drafters, planners, technicians, field service representatives, and engineers; working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and verification teams to improve simulation and debug methodologies as well as supporting installation of electrical equipment and systems, and repairing of equipment and wiring. Develop and prepare various options of design layout for complete products and complex mechanisms, complex assembly and detail selection drawings, final designs and preliminary sketches and/or schematic diagrams by investigating, producing, and applying all preliminary information and all required and contributing data, and showing interrelated dimensions and positions requiring various calculations such as strength of materials, simple forces, stress, speeds, and weights. Meet all project schedule deadlines by planning individual workload and participating in cross-functional teams to solve complex problems and/or critical issues pertaining to product development activities, continuous improvement activities, or troubleshooting activates. Mentor and guide less experienced drafters by reviewing work of other drafters and checking for accuracy and completeness, and informing on the use of tools and equipment. Travel required: Slight travel is required (up to 10%). Supervisory responsibilities: Mentor and guide less experienced drafters (this position is an informal lead).
