Supplier Management is
responsible for developing and
implementing commodity strategies across DRAM, Flash, and x86 CPUs solutions
for Oracle's hardware products. Team responsibilities include:
Providing leadership to driveCommodity Strategy and technology road maps to meet Oracle's hardwarebusiness and technical requirements
Negotiating cost and contracts
Sourcing and awarding business
Managing commodity componentquality
Managing the supplierrelationships and performance
Managing commodities throughtheir life cycle from New Product Introduction/Development to End of Life.
Supplier management is
also responsible for driving optimized supply chains through a series of
initiatives. Closely works with
design engineering/product teams, operations engineering, procurement, supply
management, component suppliers, and External Manufacturers (EMs) to provide
commercial and technical leadership and
support to ensure manufacturability of
design specifications and to validate the selection and use of components in
our products. The goal is to achieve best in class quality, competitive
cost, consistent on-time delivery and time-to-market for Oracle hardware
Manages a team of SupplierProgram Managers and Engineers who are responsible for NPI and sustainingcommodities.
Develop and implement atechnology strategy for commodities (DRAM, Flash, and CPU) in conjunctionwith the Engineering and Marketing Organizations.
Develop component (DRAM, Flash,and x86 Intel processor) roadmaps and supply base for Oracleapplications. Drive component selection and development processes asthe subject matter expert. Driveroadmap alignment between commodity components and system products.
Work with Design and SupplierEngineering to develop and manage supplier technical capability for DRAM,Flash, and x86 processors based off Oracle product and technologyrequirements.
Influence and guide engineeringteams in early phases of product conception to align with businessrequirements and commodity technology strategies and roadmaps.
Support NPI and sustainingengineering in qualification and failure analysis to address complex componentrelated issues and implement corrective actions. Develop and review component qualification/reliabilityplans, test documents/reports.
Development of a cost strategyand responsible for all aspects of Oracle's commodity pricing negotiationsand cost reductions for DRAM, Flash, and CPUs.
Negotiate all contracts andproduct awards with suppliers.
Responsible for driving costand quality of these commodities.
Regularly interacts acrossfunctional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unitobjectives are met.
Participate in industryorganizations/committees toinfluenceindustry directions, monitor industry trend, benchmark the best practicesand provide competitive information to Oracle teams.
Application knowledge ofnon-volatile storage class memory (Nand/Flash/DRAM such as Intel Xpoint)at the the SSD/DIMM level. In addition X86 CPU industry and interfaceknowledge related to memory and systems integration. First priorityNand/Flash
Cost negotiating ability with anunderstanding of industry cost drivers which allow for dissecting cost atthe component level (ie SSD, NVME, PCI-E)
Understand quality metricsassociated with each of the components and ability to manage quality tomeet/exceed our quality requirements.
Contract negotiation ofmulti-million dollar agreements.
Leadership, influencing andstrong interpersonal skills.
Ability to understand whereCPU and memory (meaning both non-volatile & volatile) markets are nowand headed, vision, in the future to allow for sound commodity strategydevelopment and to successfully drive these strategies throughout allOracle organizations and external suppliers.
Effectively guide directstaff.
Establish and nurturesuccessful relationships with internal organizations, suppliers
Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Plans and implements activities related to the timely, cost-effective procurement, inventory control, planning and quality control of production materials.
Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and material control systems to reduce costs, streamline procedures, and implement solutions. Ensures the availability of materials in the supply chain, as scheduled, and the maintenance of inventory at acceptable levels. Responsible for sourcing and supplying raw materials, utilities and outside services, as well coordinating global procurement efforts. Coordinates with finance/accounting on matters involving inventory carrying costs. Reviews and plans needs for acceptable inventory. May assist with the establishment and maintenance of the production control system. May work with customers in auditing customer inventory levels and with internal and external vendors to comply with inventory policies. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Assists in the development of short, medium, and long term plans to achieve strategic objectives. Regularly interacts across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unit objectives are met. Ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations is important. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail and ability to multitask. Ability to travel as needed. Demonstrated leaderships skills. BA/BS degree or equivalent. Advanced degree desirable.
