This role performs member services, such as opening new accounts, establishing direct deposit accounts, opening retirement accounts and assisting members with queries concerning financial institution services. Answers questions on all services the financial institution provides, and recognizes selling and referral opportunities. Provides a variety of financial services to members and non-members by assisting with product/service information, handling transactions in an accurate and timely manner and providing excellent member service.

  • Providing and maintaining exceptional member service

  • Assist members with complex financial transactions – trusts, deceased accounts, etc.

  • Identify member needs through effective financial consultation

  • Refer members to products that will improve their financial lives

  • Analyze problems and provide solutions in coordination with branch management.

  • Open new accounts for members, to include IRAs, CDs, checking, savings, etc.

  • Provide financial expertise to membership on products and services.

  • Process applications for loan products such as: credit cards, mortgages, car, personal lines of credit, etc.

  • Assist members with products and services such as online banking, check orders, debit card orders, etc.

  • Refer members to home loan mortgage officers or financial advisors dependent upon financial needs.

  • Understand and comply with all applicable federal and state laws and banking regulations (including those related to OFAC and Bank Secrecy Act / Anti-Money Laundering compliance) and Patelco Credit Union’s policies and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelors degree in business or associated field or equivalent work experience

  • Prior customer service experience, financial center experience preferred

  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills, well organized, accurate and detail-oriented.

  • Professional demeanor, the willingness to participate as a member of a service oriented, and innovative team while demonstrating a enthusiastic attitude and exceptional interpersonal skills.

  • Desire, ability and experience in working with and helping other people in a professional setting.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment while having the desire to maintain quality of service.
