HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Occupational Therapist III in San Jose, California

Schedule: 0.9 (36 hours per week) Shift: Days, rotating weekends.

The Occupational Therapist III develops and delivers comprehensive occupational therapy programs to patients requiring these services. Programs are directed at restoration of function and consist primarily of activities of daily living, functional muscle re-education, dysphagia, perceptual-cognitive training, purposeful functional activities, custom splinting, provision of assistive and adaptive devices, and prevocational or work related skills. Re-evaluates and adjusts these programs to meet patients changing needs. She/he delegates portions of treatment to aides and assistants, directing and supervising as indicated. Precepts students. Inputs on department planning, standards or care/protocols, policies and procedures. Participates in performance improvement and department development activities. Interacts with the multidisciplinary patient care teams for coordinated patient care.

The Occupational Therapist III has advanced clinical skills in at least one clinical area and is responsible for teaching those advanced skills to other staff members and functions as a role model/resource in providing high quality care in this area. He/she has responsibility for at least one program for program development and marketing.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required:

1. Must be licensed as an Occupational Therapist by the California Board of Occupational Therapy. 2. Completion of an entry level baccalaureate curriculum of professional education in physical therapy, accredited by the AOTA or education which in the opinion of the AOTA is equivalent to that obtained in an accredited program. 3. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Provider Course. *Minimum Experience:* 1. At least three years of experience required. 2. Ability to learn and utilize computerized patient care management system. 3. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
