Schedule: 1.0 (40 hours per week), Shift: Days weekdays only. Internal Posting Period: 6/14/16 -6/21/16

The Trauma Nurse Coordinator assists the Trauma Program Director and Trauma Medical Director with the development, implementation, and evaluation of the trauma program. The Trauma Nurse Coordinator participates in clinical rounds, monitors and measures the quality and timeless of care provided by physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers for injured patients throughout the continuum of care. The Trauma Nurse Coordinator will facilitate and coordinate quality assurance/improvement activities, from pre-hospital care through discharge and rehabilitation. The Trauma Nurse Coordinator’s role is structured to facilitate interaction with all units and disciplines involved with trauma care. The Trauma Nurse Coordinator is a valuable resource for staff development as an expert clinician as well as a resource to organizations and systems in improving quality and conserving resources. The Trauma Nurse Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation and on-going evaluation of the Trauma Injury Prevention Program at Regional Medical Center of San Jose.

Education, Licensure, Certification 1. Current California Registered Nurse License 2. Current California BRN Clinical Nurse Specialist Certification 3. Current Basic Life Support certification 4. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification 5. Current Trauma Nurse Core Course provider and/or instructor 6. PALS or ENPC at least once 7. Specialty certification (i.e. CCRN or CEN) preferred 8. Membership and participation in local, regional and national trauma organizations (preferred) Experience 1. Five years experience in critical care or emergency department trauma center Skills 1. Demonstrates strong communication skills 2. Able to organize and prioritize work assignments 3. Able to work independently and autonomously 4. Strong computer skills 5. Analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills set 6. Public speaking and presentation skills Specific Knowledge 1. Santa Clara County trauma center requirements 2. California Title 22 requirements 3. American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma criteria 4. Joint Commission regulations affecting trauma programs 5. Current theory, principles and procedures specific to trauma populations 6. Injury prevention concepts
