Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Software Architect 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in San Diego, CA.

The selected candidate will be an innovative and strategic thinker who has the ability to look broadly across many complex software systems and drive architectural decisions across multiple programs including spacecraft, manned aircraft, unmanned aircraft, and ground systems.

Essential Functions:

  • Abstracts the complexity of a system into a manageable model that describes the essence of a system by exposing important details and significant constraints

  • Maintains long term vision and control over the architecture lifecycle proactively monitoring the adherence of the implementation to the chosen architecture during all iterations and sets quantifiable objectives that encapsulate quality attributes of a system such as performance, modifiability, and security

  • Creatively solve problems across real time embedded systems (RTOS), ground based mission systems, to high fidelity simulation environments

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. Candidate must be comfortable in a lab environment and be able to collaborate closely with system engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of software engineering experience OR

  • Master’s Degree in STEM and 3 years of software engineering experience

  • Direct experience developing systems architecture

  • An active DoD Top Secret clearance and/or SCI access

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering

  • Experience leading and managing cross-functional teams

  • Excellent 2-way communication skills (upward and downward)

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management

  • Active SCI clearance
