L-3 Communications Project Engineer, Intel Products (Level TBD) in San Diego, California
Do you have what it takes to be a Project Engineer?
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for a team supporting Information Security (IA) Product development across L-3 T&RF product lines in development efforts for customer programs and IRAD. You will be directly involved in the proposal effort, design, integration and test of digital systems requiring encryption technology. A high level of technical content and participation is anticipated with this position. Expertise in digital and analog PWA designs including power systems, high bit rate design techniques, and high density FPGA designs that would include architecting/design and verification of complex VHDL designs is highly desired.
You will have the opportunity to:
Lead the project team in defining requirements, planning and executing project plans, participating in design reviews and supporting production release of modified or new products.
Review product specifications; generate system and module-level block diagrams, flow diagrams and design concepts.
Design, test and integrate hardware sub-systems and modules.
Utilize simulation tools or design tools to implement hardware designs in IA products.
Demonstrate your excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills. Conduct disciplined failure analysis to arrive at root cause for issues and design or recommend effective corrective actions.
Interface with business development, proposals, manufacturing, quality, production and customer service to support all aspects of the Information Assurance product line.
Support product processes, such as BOM's (Bill of Materials) and ECO's (Engineering Change Order).
Support program and proposal processes, such as BOE’s (Basis of Estimate) and EAC’s (Estimate at Completion), as well as schedule generation and updates.
Prepare and present technical data at customer PDR's and CDR's.
BS degree in Electrical Engineering with 10 years of relevant experience. MSEE and a minimum of 8 years of electrical hardware experience desired.
Experience using schematic design and hardware simulation tools, preferably OrCAD and PSpice.
Detailed understanding of digital circuit and/or FPGA design, preferably VHDL and ModelSim.
Skilled in a lab environment using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and signal generators.
Experience with Bill of Materials (BOM) management and Engineering Change Control (ECO) processes.
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
Proficient with Office Suite tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
This position requires travel up to 10% of the time.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. Preference will be given to candidates with an active Secret (or higher) clearance at the time of hire. *
Advanced HDL verification techniques and methodologies.
Knowledge and experience FIPS-140 and CISSP-12 product development and certification process.
Familiarity with Printed Wiring Board layout tools, such as PADS.
Experience with Xilinx FPGA development tools.
Experience with hands-on EMI test support.
Experience with MATLAB.
Experience using LabVIEW software.
Knowledge and experience with components selection and design for Space applications including radiation effects.
Able to work closely with mechanical, components and manufacturing engineer to consider thermal, power, reliability, DFX and other design trade-offs.
Ability and experience with project planning and proposal activities (technical volume development, estimating engineering tasks, and working with Program Manager to create and update development schedules, including earned value progress).
