BAE Systems Eng Sr - Sys in San Diego, California

BAE Systems is looking for an experienced and self-motivated Systems Engineer to work the Air Tasking Order Planning System (ATOPS). The ATOPS system is a customizable air mission planning system for force and unit level planning. ATOPS provides asynchronous, collaborative staff interaction for rapid management, sharing, and displaying of information for Air Tasking Order (ATO) and Airspace Control Order (ACO) planning and support of in-progress ATO operations . The work encompasses a major upgrade and enhancement to the ATOPS product over the next two to five years. The qualified candidate will work in a rapid development environment as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Assigned tasks may include performing requirements identification, analysis, documentation, and tracking, development of Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), technical documentation, customer engagement, and close interaction with software and other system engineers on the team to achieve program objectives. The tasks may also include managing and operation of the test systems, verification/validation of the system requirements, and final product integration. This position may require occasional international business travel in support of technical exchanges, demonstrations, and system testing and installation.

Minimum Education And Experience

Bachelor's Degree and 5 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills And Education

Minimum required education: Bachelor's Degree in engineering or technical discipline, or equivalent related experience

  • Ability to perform requirements identification, analysis, documentation, and tracking

  • Ability to develop system concepts of operations (CONOPS)

  • Ability to participate in analyzing customer needs, and identifying requirements and technical tasks to achieve various objectives and iterative development schedules

  • Ability to perform verification/validation of systems and product integration

  • Ability to write scenario - based test cases and procedures

  • Ability to work with customers in a dynamic environment

  • Ability to develop improved methods to increase program efficiency

  • Team player with a proactive attitude and the ability to be productive in a collaborative environment

  • Strong oral and written communications skills

  • Ability to apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications
