ORGANIZATIONAL LOCATION: Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Indian Health Services (IHS), Northern Plains Region, Great Plains Area Office, Outpatient Section of the Nursing Department, Rosebud, South Dakota. Position reports to the Supervisory Clinical Nurse (Outpt). The IHS is required by law to give absolute preference to qualified applicants who meet the Secretary of the Interior's definition of Indian for appointment to vacancies within the IHS in accordance with established IHS policy as outlined in the Indian Health Manual Part 7, Chapter 3. Perform clerical duties involved in the operation of the Women's Health Department.
Transcribes physician's orders to appropriate forms.
Admits and discharges the patient in the RPMS, ERS and ADT packages.
Assists patients in contacting other departments as needed.
Types department manuals, procedures, and protocols as well as correspondence.
Performs timekeeping duties utilizing the Integrated Time and Attendance System (ITAS) and keeping a timekeeping folder for each employee.
Participates in Charge Master Team activities. Performs other related duties as assigned.

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following types of tasks:

EXAMPLES OF SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR EACH GRADE LEVEL IS LISTED BELOW: GS-05: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level; or four (4) years of education above high school is required. EXAMPLE OF SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR THE GS-05: Perform clerical duties involved in the operation of the Women's Health department. Answers telephone call in a courteous manner and takes and relays messages or refers them to the proper person. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Maintains record confidentiality, safeguarding medical information. Prepares and assembles charts for clinic. Reviews charts for completeness of orders. Prepares requisitions for the charge nurse to review. Prepares requisitions for laboratory tests and x-ray procedures. Demonstrates ability to ensure each patient has updated demographics and signatures on file. Escorts patients to other departments requested.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
