Project Manager I
Responsible for managing stand alone projects. Accountable for maintaining vendor relationships. Provides project management oversight of methodology usage. Supports continuous improvement.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for managing and monitoring projects on a daily basis, identifying resource needs, performing quality reviews; and escalating functional, quality, timeline issues appropriately.
Responsible for creating project plans, tracking key project milestones and adjusting project plans and/or resources to meet the project needs.
Responsible for anticipating slippage.
Assists in formulating recovery plans or assessing impact if not recoverable.
Records and monitors project actual costs vs. project budget.
Responsible for proactively identifying variances to plan and supports the development of appropriate mitigation plans.
Assists in the recommendation of corrective actions when project deliverables deviate from the work plan with the assistance of team members.
Prepares status reports for project team and sponsors; includes identifying significant wins and impacts to the schedule, scope, budget, risk and resources of the project effort being managed.
Adheres to and analyzes project/program policies processes, standards, governance, and metrics.
Understands how project decisions impact key business metrics and the enterprise strategy.
Supports teams in building consensus relative to project scope, task execution, staffing and issue resolution.
Provides clear and reliable verbal and written communications.
Holds self accountable for meeting expectations and requirements of customers.
Shows ability to learn new tools and processes.
Evaluates new or changed tools and processes to fit within the projects managed.
Shows flexibility in changing approach when needed.
Assists in creating and/or reviewing project proposals and integrated project plans.
Gathers and determines timeframes and processes for completing projects.
Ensures the quality and integrity of project work products.
Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
Supports change management.
Motivates peers by explaining priorities and objectives.
Identifies project related problems.
Engages in effective brainstorming and brings creative solutions to the workplace.
Implements identified solutions and validates problem resolution.
Makes recommendations for improving efficiency, product delivery and expense reduction in projects.
Understands the objectives and scope of the project.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
4 to 7 years of IT work experience, including 4 or more years managing projects.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.
Project Management certification or successful completion of a recognized project management curriculum is desired.
MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Prepares a complex schedule and manages timelines within the Clarity/Open Workbench tool.
Able to use communication features such as Timeline, Gantt charts, etc for stakeholder updates.
Able to use the Clarity/Open Workbench tool to determine the projects critical path, variances to the baseline, resource constraints, actual cost and estimated budget of the project.
Able to extract information from Clarity/Open Workbench to analyze an individual project.
Holds a basic familiarity of how to use MS Project to schedule a simple project.
Uses integration with other MS tools within Outlook (copy/paste), Using Flags, action items, etc., Sharing/Viewing calendars, using rules.
Within MS Excel works with multiple worksheets, filters data, uses functions.
Able to create presentations in PowerPoint and use to present a cohesive presentation.
Able to use MS Word to present a cohesive document.
Able to create basic process flow diagrams using MS Visio.
