CURRENT OPPORTUNITY: Product Development Engineer - Vision

FANUC America Corporationprovides the most complete range of industry-leading robotics, CNC and motion control systems, and ROBODRILL machining centers. Our innovative technologies and proven expertise help manufacturers in the Americas to be more efficient, reliable and profitable. FANUC America is currently searching for aProduct Development Engineerin our Vision development group. Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Develop, support, and test machine vision software within an embedded real time operating system environment. The machine vision software includes:

  • 2-D image processing algorithms and tools

  • 3-D imaging processing algorithms and tools

  • User Interface software using state of the art web based and OpenGL technologies

  • Specification, design, implementation of software developments or software enhancements to existing products.

  • Development and implementation of product tests and product test procedures.

  • Assist product staff in the release of product software.

  • Development of product documentation.

  • Resolve field reported problems.

  • Communication with FANUC and other engineering staff on product and development related issues.

  • Present a proposed product concept to selling division and select customers.

  • Update and modify design and engineering documentation as required for assigned developments.

  • Ability to develop simple project schedules.

  • Support and Develop Specific to Machine Vision:

  • Lighting and optics for industrial applications

  • User Interface and Image processing software design.

  • Application development of robust industrial vision applications

  • Specific Software Development can include:

  • User Interface software design

  • Application development of robust industrial vision applications in ā€œCā€ and web technologies

  • 2D and 3D Image processing software design.

Ideal candidate will have the following experience and education:

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering (Electrical or Computer Engineering major preferred) or Physics or equivalent relevant work experience

  • Significant academic and/or practical development experience in vision software, machine vision algorithms and vision applications.

  • Strong ANSI-C language coding skills and experience with large project software development environment (configuration management, build/release).

  • Experience with basic machine vision operation and construction

  • Experience in using state of the art vision technology in advanced machine guidance environments.
