Boehringer Ingelheim Manager, Access & Reimbursement Operations in RIDGEFIELD, Connecticut


The Manager, Access and Reimbursement Operations is a member of the Access and Reimbursement team in the Market Access function. This role will be responsible for developing a variety of reimbursement programs and support services to patients, providers and physicians that mitigates barriers to access for specialty medications for patients with complex, complicated medical conditions. The position is responsible for instilling innovation, efficiencies, strategic planning to ensure best-in-class patient services.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee long-range and annual planning for the cross-functional Access & Reimbursement function that includes investment roadmap, vendor management efficiency planning and compliance management for programs and services

  • Drives the process for information relative to the access and reimbursement team derived from the external marketplace and internal databases. This role collaborates with the specialty franchise brand managers to help develop Access and Reimbursement strategies, goals, projects, customer tools and activities.

  • Services as a resource to Access and Reimbursement leadership team to analyze business opportunities and coordinates cross-team initiatives in process improvements and efficiencies.

  • Creates and realizes financial and operational efficiencies in the delivery of services that best meet patient access needs and marketplace challenges


  • BA/BS degree from an accredited institution required; MBA from an accredited institution preferred with seven (7) to nine (9) years relevant market access, key account experience

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in reimbursement and pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical managed markets industry or equivalent experience

  • More than six (6) years project management experience

  • Ability to manage ambiguity and complexity in a dynamic marketplace environment

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functionally

  • Demonstrated experience with working with specialty pharmacies

  • Experience with launching new products

  • Detailed understanding of key customers especially commercial and government payers, PBMs, IDNs; reimbursement/affordability focus

Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities:

  • Field experience preferred

  • Stakeholder management, driving collaboration across cross-functional teams

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
