The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the drug distribution process to include, but not limited to: supervision and training of technicians, employee feedback involvement, and oversight of technical work in all processes and areas of the department. Works with the management team andpharmacy buyer to ensure adequate stock levels of drugs are maintained, and ensuring all drug distribution records are properly stored. The manager will perform duties as necessary to ensure the timely processing, preparation, and dispensing of patient medication orders in accordance with all current regulatory and practice standards.

Responsibilities also includedelegation of assignments to maintain appropriate technician staffing levels, ensuring that all core services of the department are provided in an efficient, timely, and accurate manner. The Pharmacy manager also performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director and Director of Pharmacy. *_General Essential Functions_* · Ability to performs all basic duties of pharmacist in the drug distribution process · Is responsible for preparing technician schedules in appropriate timeframes and ensuring shifts are covered with the appropriate staff and skill level to meet departmental and staffing model needs. · Supervises technicians in the performance of their assigned duties on a daily basis and prioritizes tasks in the event of staffing shortages. · Assigns, maintains and updates pharmacy technician job responsibility lists for all shift assignments and oversees compliance with those requirements. Coaches employees as necessary to ensure quality patient care and regulatory compliance. · Assists with ensuring departmental USP 795, 797, 800 compliance and proper documentation of all related activities. · Helps maintain departmental policies and procedures related to medication product preparation, storage, and distribution throughout facility · Actively communicates policy and procedure changes to appropriate staff and creates education for pharmacy and nursing staff as necessary · Oversees and directs workflow related distribution from the main pharmacy and automated dispensing cabinets. · Responsible for oversight of routine scanning of medications and supplies and coordination with buyer to maintain appropriate stock. · Assigns and ensures compliance required competencies for staff related to pharmacy operations · Ensures all compounding logs are accurately completed and filed and stored appropriately. · Ensures appropriate daily hand off procedures are in place and being adhered to by direct reports to create seamless patient care · Assists in the development and coordination of new process and quality improvement initiatives · Assist in training of new pharmacists, pharmacy students, and technicians. Additional responsibilities include working directly with the Assistant Director of Pharmacy, Clinical Manager, and Pharmacy Supervisor to oversee pharmacy staff and assist in the synthesis and implementation of policies and procedures. · Monitors medication par levels. Assist the Compounding Supervisor with communicating stock needs and drug shortages pertinent to meeting the immediate needs of patients with the pharmacy and hospital staff. · Provide medication information to healthcare staff, pharmacokinetic dosing, assistance with technical duties, and dispensing services. · Maintains professional growth and development through participation in seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to remain current in field sterile product preparation, storage, and handling. · Evaluates the performance of technical staff, assistswith personnel performance reviews and assists with the development and retention of competent personnel in coordination with the Pharmacy management team. · Manages personnel to include interviewing, work allocation, orientation and training, staff development problem resolution, evaluating performance, making recommendations for personnel actions and motivating employees to achieve peak performance. Is responsible for their employee’s output and provides constructive feedback with supervised employees in a timely manner. · Works with the lead and automation techs to ensure compliance with corporate ADC optimization dashboard · Adheres to all facility and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and quality assurance programs as well as safety, environmental and infection control standards in the performance of work duties. · Helps ensure that the department is maintained in a clean and orderly fashion. · Monitors and verifies completion of PI and QA processes within the department. Verifies and coordinates completion of unit/area inspections,expiration date audits other work area inspections to ensure on-time completion and documentation. · Attends meetings as required and participates on committees as requested. · Participates in professional/civic organizations and activities as needed. · Assists in medication formulary management and compliance. · Sets the expectation for team player qualities to include, but not limited to: extra shifts on supervisor’s request for scheduled overtime or sick call coverage, volunteers for projects, and suggests workflow or service improvement ideas. · Is compliant with required classes and vaccinations by CJW; i.e., Code of Conduct, influenza vaccine and TB skin tests, et al. · A minimum of three (3-5) years hospital experience is required. A minimum of (1) year experience in managing task oriented staff preferred *_ _* *_Education / License Requirements_* *_ _* · Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited School of Pharmacy is required, PharmD degree preferred · Current and active Virginia Pharmacist license in good standing (or ability to obtain) required. · Demonstrated skills and experience in each of the areas of section I · Knowledge of general pharmacy practice policies and procedures · Possession of excellent interpersonal and communication skills to successfully interact with employees, patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals, and contribute as a team player · Ability to work independently and provide appropriate direction to Pharmacy technicians · Training and or experience in providing pharmaceutical care to patients of all age groups · Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and other required technology systems including, but not limited to, automated dispensing cabinets, prepackaging and compounding equipment, Meditech and other software and hardware as required · Human relations, organizational, critical thinking, multi-tasking, and communication skills in a detail-oriented, customer- focused organization are required. Ability to follow through with and complete projects in time is required · Experience leading and implementing process changes is preferred · Thorough knowledge of and experience supervising in a USP Chapters 795,797, 800 compliant setting
