SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Obtains complete medical history and physical data on patients. Reviews patient records. * Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed. * Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention. Performs a complete physical exam and records findings. * Administers injections, immunizations and oral medications. Sutures wounds. Prepares written prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances. Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. * Provides patient education. Interview and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs. Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. * Assists physicians by recording patient progress notes, issues diagnostic orders, and transcribes orders. * Triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation. Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits. * Performs independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations. * Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested. * Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations. * Maintains patient confidentiality. * Performs related work as required. * Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement” * Other duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES * Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practice, and medical care to give and evaluate patient care. * Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments. * Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. * Ability to assess medical conditions and interpret findings. * Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public. * Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. * Ability to communicate clearly.
EDUCATION • Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
EXPERIENCE • One year clinical experience preferred.
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE • Nurse Practitioner License of Practicing State
