Parham Doctors’ Hospital, a campus of Henrico Doctors’ Hospital, is located in the west end of Richmond. Parham Doctors’ Hospital is a 200-bed facility offering medical and surgical programs including orthopedics, behavioral health, bariatrics, imaging, rehabilitation services, 24-hour emergency care, sleep disorder, podiatry, primary care, and occupational health. The Parham Doctors’ Hospital campus is home to The Orthopedic Hospital, one of the most honored joint and spine programs in the state.

Emergency Department (ED): • 18 Beds • Stroke Certified • Accredited Chest Pain Center • Sepsis Certified

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) will perform care under the direction of the unit Nursing Leadership Team and the Director. The ED RN:

  • Provides therapeutic and administrative services necessary for the care of the patient, in support of HCA ethical and compliance principles and values.

  • Performs and documents initial admission assessment on all patients upon arrival in the Emergency Department.

  • Performs accurate Triage assessments and exhibit exceptional customer service skills. Completes Triage competencies according to triage guidelines within the first year of hire and maintain Triage education thereafter.

  • Plans and provides patient care as per MD, DO, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner orders, established Protocols, and policies.

  • Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting all aspects of patient care.

  • Delegates appropriate tasks to unlicensed personnel and provides required supervision.

  • Works closely with all health care providers to facilitate and coordinate efficient, effective, and quality healthcare.

  • Communicates effectively and maintains therapeutic relationships with patients, families, physicians, and staff.

  • Evaluates patient’s signs and symptoms; then records and reports results. Sets priorities and modifies patient care in response to changing conditions by utilizing problem solving skills and exhibiting good judgment.

  • Collaborates with physicians regarding patient progress towards the outcome attainment and assists physician during treatment/examination of patient and processes orders.

  • Makes appropriate and timely notification to physician on patient condition changes.

    Patient Rights - The Registered Nurse will work to support and protect the rights of each patient served, treat each patient with dignity and care, and maintain patient confidentiality/privacy. Patient Safety – The Registered Nurse demonstrates commitment to patient safety initiatives including patient falls, medication safety, National Patient Safety Goals, critical value reporting, and administration of blood products.


  • Diploma or Associates Degree from a professional nursing program (required)

  • BSN or current enrollment in a BSN program at an accredited school of Nursing (preferred)


  • Current Registered Nurse License in this state (required)

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider (required)

  • ACLS and PALS certification (preferred)


  • 1 year of experience in area of clinical expertise to which applying (preferred)

  • Critical care experience (preferred)

  • Mixed Shifts

  • 12 hour shifts

  • 72 hours every pay period (every two weeks)
