SC Department of Public Safety Program Coordinator I in Richland County, South Carolina

  1. Under limited supervision, collects evidence, analyzes bases, issues, relevant information, legal theories, and processes and recommends disposition of employment discrimination complaints. Counsels complainants, respondents, and attorneys to the Commission's procedures, conducts formal interviews of witnesses and parties to a complaint; conducts on-site investigations; analyzes complainant's and respondents defense and all pertinent records, documents and other evidence to determine whether a complaint has merit; prepares analysis of information and letters of determination to be issued by the Commission; determines potential respondent liabilities; recommends corrective action; negotiates and prepares pre-determination settlements between complainants and respondent; drafts conciliations agreements embodying provisions necessary to relief. Determines the need for, and prepares amended complaints.

  2. Under limited supervision, completes the investigation of cases within 180 days from date of assignment. Maintain necessary knowledge of State and Federal laws.

  3. Completes the assigned cases accurately and thoroughly according to established standards. Provides information, advice and assistance regarding individual's rights, and general provisions and obligations to respondents, complainants, various groups of organizations. Upon request, provides advice and assistance to employers to ensure compliance with relevant laws.

  4. Under limited supervision assists in the translation of Agency documents into Spanish. In addition, assists Complainants and Respondents whose primary language is Spanish at the Intake and Investigative level.

  5. Participate in training workshops and meetings as required. Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum and Additional Requirements: A Bachelor's Degree and relevant program experience.
