Providence is calling a Director System Medication Utilization Management to Providence Health & Services in Renton, WA.
We are seeking a Director, System Medication Utilization Management to develop strategy, direct and oversee clinical pharmacy activities and services to ensure the delivery of high quality, cost effective medication regimens across the organization. This individual provides oversight to services pertaining to: Medication and Therapeutics Committee support, evidence based reviews of medications, and regional medication utilization management group support.
In this position you will:
Provide pharmacy leadership supporting clinical and operational pharmacy groups.
Manage the academic debate effectively, helping to steer towards system wide consensus in support of the Triple Aim – population health, individual healthcare and lower costs.
Provide oversight of the interpretation and summarization of pharmacy guidelines, published clinical evidence, third party knowledge resources, leading practices and clinical / operational / financial data.
Contribute to the implementation of pharmacy guidelines, leading practices and research initiatives, as determined by the system medication and therapeutics committee.
Build and maintain effective collaborative relationships with pharmacy leaders, as regional and system leaders of clinical and operational groups, collaborating to identify, prioritize and support system pharmacy priorities.
Identify medication-related utilization initiatives to improve population health management (for local, regional, and system-wide audiences).
Interface with PH&S Pharmacy Contracting team to coordinate and align the system formulary process with medication contracting strategies
Supervises and directs the work of PH&S drug information clinical pharmacists, assigning work, prioritizing responsibilities, and providing direction and feedback. Edits and approves clinical/financial/operational data within medication reviews, providing guidance and direction on content, presentation, incorporation of input, recommendations; approves readiness for formal consideration.
Develop methods and tools to Identify and resolve local barriers to implementation of pharmacy initiatives. Track, trend and evaluate appropriateness of these initiatives in terms of quality of care, ROI, and process improvement issues.
Required qualifications for this position include:
The position requires a degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of pharmacy. Post-graduate degree in pharmacy or business field is desirable.
Minimum 10 years’ experience in pharmacy practice, either in a supervisory, management, consultative or equivalent position.
Strong clinical pharmacy knowledge base required; experience with drug information management and medication formulary practices is preferred.
Experience in collaborating with pharmacists, physicians and other interdisciplinary experts in a large complex organization strongly preferred.
Must demonstrate a strong broad-based pharmaceutical and medical knowledge, the ability to interpret scientific evidence or comparative effectiveness studies and present key findings.
Pharmacist licensure in the appropriate state as may be required to practice. Licensure is expected to be maintained annually.
