Job Description

The Specialist, Graduate Medical Education (GME) serves as the resource for all individual residency and fellowship coordinators in Northern Nevada and provides necessary training for GME compliance. The position is the institution’s super-user of the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine’s (UNR Med) GME electronic evaluation and program manager software. This individual is responsible for affiliation agreements for residents rotating away from UNR Med to other institutions and for working with UNR Med’s Office of Legal Affairs to gather the necessary information for affiliation agreements/program letters of agreement (PLA) for UNR Med training programs. In addition, the ideal candidate will be working proactively with other agencies (hospitals and other community groups) on behalf of the GME Office and the medical school as new residencies and fellowships are explored and developed

The preferred candidate will be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the Graduate Medical Education field. Understanding of ethics, laws, and regulations related to graduate medical education. Knowledge of graduate medical education business operations and system functions. Skills to interview and investigate. Knowledge of audit skills and ability to review documents and write reports. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with multiple levels of personnel.

This position at UNR Med has a unique opportunity for possible advancement within a short period of time due to the changes and growth at the med school.

Major responsibilities include: Coordinate accuracy of residency and fellowship program data; utilize and train others to use a variety of tools to collect and report program data. Ensure timely updating of Accreditation council on Graduate Medical Education requirements annually Serve as the institutional super user for the GME designated software, the electronic evaluation and program manager software used by the institution Guide coordinators to ensure that all their required information is completed and submitted prior to deadlines Guide GME coordinators in the development and maintenance of archived files based on GMEC and the Nevada System of Higher Education’s records retention policy Participate in on-boarding of newly matched residents Coordinate with the office of Legal Affairs to collect necessary documents for the creation of master affiliation agreements and PLA’s Enter all agreements into GME designated software for filing and tracking purposes Assist in developments and/or revision of institutional policies for GME Participate in the GME Committee Research GME issues and the ACGME rules and regulations to ensure UNR Med’s residency and fellowship programs are in compliance with accreditation standards Ensure the web pages for GME and all the programs are up to day and informative

Job Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree- Two years of related work experience Master’s degree- One year of related work experience

Related Experience- experience in medical school administrative environment (GME desirable), communication or management

Valid Driver’s License

Occasional variable work schedule (to include some nights and weekends) Occasional Travel
