Engility is deploying a multidisciplinary team of experienced professionals to provide technical management and support services that will assist the VA Product Development (PD) organization in delivering effective, consistent and timely project management execution throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Engility is seeking a Project Manager to support an array of project management activities across a broad spectrum of IT projects, to include but not limited to:
Control project requirements, scope, and change management issues.
Work on diverse problems requiring evaluation of identifiable factors. Present alternatives, solution, or strategies, considering client requirements and capabilities.
Monitor the project(s) milestones, deadlines, and due dates and inform VA PM of any potential risks and issues that might impact meeting the deadlines.
Lead and manage project planning, scheduling, and reporting activities.
Plan and lead team members to stay on task, documenting information and synthesizing decisions.
Mentor the team’s junior staff and assist them through onboarding process, and provide instruction and guidance for conducting their tasks if requested.
Communicate with the client in an organized and knowledgeable manner, and delivering clear requests for information
Work with leads to support resource management, stakeholder relationship building and manager/interaction, and facilitate cross-workstream and development integration.
Coordinate program/project requirements through analysis of client need documents such as vision and scope, program road map, and business requirements documentation.
Plan schedules, monitor, and report on activities and dependencies related to the project, including integration/development vendor monitoring
Develop, review or analyze project management documents to include but not limited to Project charters, Program/Project Management Plans and supporting Plans, Risk Management Plans and responsibilities matrix, etc.
Integrate and use project management methodologies
Participate in discussion with development and business team in different phases of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) specifically in Requirements, Testing, and delivery.
Develop report briefs (PMAS, leadership and ad hoc) required for the Workstreams/projects and submit them to stakeholders for review and approval.
Interact with different stakeholders across VA to solicit, develop, review, and update artifacts identified by client. Conduct peer review on PMAS and technical documents.
Conduct Risk Management activities by assisting clients in identifying and reporting risks, conducting qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, developing mitigation strategies to address risks, maintain the risk registry, and present risks as requested directed by client.
Work independently with no instructions on routine tasks and with general instruction on new tasks.
Acts as a business consultant and advisor on financial matters to project management staff by recommending acquisition strategies, facilitating spend plan decisions/changes, providing functional area subject matter expertise on the federal budget and acquisition process.
Contributes to development and review of project artifacts and presentation materials
This position can be supported from a remote home office location.
Bachelors degree and 5+ years’ experience as an IT project manager. (or some combo of both)
Must be organized, flexible and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong interpersonal, verbal communication, presentation, and technical communication skills. Understanding of how to interact with senior GS levels within the federal government.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task.
Ability to assimilate and analyze information efficiently and effectively.
Experience leading technical and software development project management.
Proficient in MS Office, MS Project, and knowledge MS SharePoint.
Analytical and problem solving skills.
Leadership and collaboration ability to coordinate project funding and acquisition support activities in an efficient and timely manner within a diverse team structure
