SQL Execution

The SQL Execution group works in these areas:

  • Complex analytic calculations in SQL

  • Efficient execution of Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence queries

  • Joins, bitmap indexes, bloom filters, aggregation, window and statistical

analysis functions, hierarchical queries, Sub-query

factoring (With Clause), Temp tables, Frequent item sets and

Decision tree analysis

  • Providing new SQL Extensions for Graph Processing


group has been defining important analytic extensions to SQL since

Oracle 8i. We cooperate with other database vendors to standardize our

SQL extensions so that they are adopted quickly. We are responsible for

developing innovative algorithms for optimizing and executing the

proposed extensions in the RDBMS kernel. Many of our algorithms have

been patented and our work has been published in major conferences. We

are responsible for providing scalability of the sql operators for

parallel queries and for memory usage. A most recent area of interest if

vectorized and columnar processing.

The group has significant

research focus for Big Data. This includes social graph mining using SQL

with novel algorithms for parallelization of graphs searches, new join

methods for time-based data, discovery of patterns in sequences of

events, etc. The group recently invented a new pattern matching

extensions to SQL that have accepted to ANSI SQL proposal and have

recognized by customers as one of most important advances in SQL in

recent years.

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
